Those of you that know us know that Dave is a runner. He started running in 2009 and has competed in multiple races and even completed a marathon in the fall of 2009. He continues to run and loves it.
So on Thursday night, as I was looking over various activities on a local website, I saw that there was a race this morning in the park across from our neighborhood. Not only was there a race, but it was a reggae race fun run and Tater could run in it. Yes, my 17 month old little man could run his very first race.
There's been lots of smoke here recently, so we were concerned that it would be smokey here this morning. Dave got up to check and it was gorgeous outside. The perfect day for a race. He went over to the park and registered Tater. Here's Tater's first racing package.
His shirt is a little bit too big, but he'll grow into it.
At the park, getting his number attached to his shirt.
This run was very different from what we are used to. It was super informal, but for Tater's first race, it was just what he needed. As soon as we got there, they went ahead and let him run instead of waiting around. This allowed him to run and not be too distracted. (It also allowed me to follow them and take pictures.)
He ended up ripping his number off the front of his shirt, so we had to stop and pin it on the back. Then he was off to running again.
I snapped this picture right before he took a fall.
He got right back up and took off again.
He ran about 75% of the run. We are so proud of him!
Crossing the finish line.
Here he is saying "Ta da"!
A post run drink!
So looking forward to many more races in the future.
