Sunflowers

Just had to share these pictures of the sunflowers that Gramma and Papa have at their house.
They are sooo beautiful!

Tater's First Race

Those of you that know us know that Dave is a runner.  He started running in 2009 and has competed in multiple races and even completed a marathon in the fall of 2009. He continues to run and loves it.

So on Thursday night, as I was looking over various activities on a local website, I saw that there was a race this morning in the park across from our neighborhood.  Not only was there a race, but it was a reggae race fun run and Tater could run in it.  Yes, my 17 month old little man could run his very first race.

There's been lots of smoke here recently, so we were concerned that it would be smokey here this morning.  Dave got up to check and it was gorgeous outside.  The perfect day for a race.  He went over to the park and registered Tater.  Here's Tater's first racing package.
His shirt is a little bit too big, but he'll grow into it.
At the park, getting his number attached to his shirt.
This run was very different from what we are used to.  It was super informal, but for Tater's first race, it was just what he needed.  As soon as we got there, they went ahead and let him run instead of waiting around.  This allowed him to run and not be too distracted.  (It also allowed me to follow them and take pictures.)

He ended up ripping his number off the front of his shirt, so we had to stop and pin it on the back.  Then he was off to running again.

I snapped this picture right before he took a fall.
He got right back up and took off again.

He ran about 75% of the run.  We are so proud of him!
 Crossing the finish line.
Here he is saying "Ta da"!

 A post run drink!
So looking forward to many more races in the future.

Storytime

On Thursday, I had planned a day of activities, all outside activities, for Tater and the McGirls.  Well, we woke up to a ton of smoke outside, so the plans have to be saved for another day.

We ended up going to a storytime at a local mall and learned about a chameleon.  After we read, they let us color and we even got a treat for being good.

New Park Fun

We tried out a new park on Wednesday and loved it!

Her poor blistered hands from all of the monkey bar fun.

Doing what he loves to do:  JUMP!

J "loves" it when I take pictures of her.

 Playing music

Can't wait to go back again!
