A Great Day for the Park

Most weeks, I have one half day of work and a few weeks ago, as Tater and I were driving home around lunchtime, we were soaking in the sunshine and feeling the breeze with our windows down.

As we were driving home, we got stopped for about 20 minutes on the bridge leading to the tunnel due to a broken down vehicle.

Instead of getting frustrated, we spent time eating our lunch, enjoying the view, and feeling the wind blow through the windows.
Because it was such a super beautiful day and Tater didn't seem too tired, we called Dave and had him meet us at the park for some fun.

Love our family shadow.
We hadn't been on the pier yet and since it was pretty empty, we let Tater explore.  Of course, by explore, I mean we let Tater run as fast as he could down the pier.  :)
He and Dave checked out the water.
We even let him sit in one of their fishing boats.
I love our spontaneous visits to the park.

Bowling

On March 1st, we took the little guy bowling for the first time.

(I took my camera, but forgot to put the memory card in it, thus resulting in only having these horrible cell phone pictures.  Oh well!)

Loving these Tater sized bowling shoes.
He loved bowling and wanted to do it all by himself.  He loved saying "Tater's turn" when it was his turn to bowl.

We're looking forward to doing it again soon.

February 27-March 18

February 27: Crazy hair
February 28: Happy National Pancake Day
February 28:  Man, watching all of the adoption stuff in Parenthood brings up so many raw emotions.

March 1:
Dear Gluten Free Cinnamon Chex Cereal,
I love you!
Love,
Your Gluten Free Friend

March 1:  Is it really March? Can't believe that this little guy turns 2 on the 19th!!!!!

March 1:  Tater loves having the windows down.
March 1:  Any guesses as to what we are doing tonight?
March 1:  All I want to do is close my eyes and go to sleep. Instead, I'm up working on my resume. :(

March 2:
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Celebrating his birthday with cat in the hat pancakes.
March 2:  Just found a project that I want to make for Tater, Brennen, Ayla, June, and Baylee. Looking forward to starting on it tomorrow. :)

March 2:
Just found Cat in the Hat Live on Netflix. It is quite entertaining.

March 4:
Picked up Tater from his class and we were told that he's ready to move up to the next big boy class. So proud of my big boy.

March 4:
Gotta love family nap time. I just woke up and the boys are still sleeping. The only downside: having wild and crazy dreams that made me wake up with my heart racing!!!

March 4:
Tater and I were talking this morning about going to Ayla's (his cousin's) birthday party and how we would see Nana there because Nana is Ayla's Nana, too. This did not sit well with Tater. His immediate response was, "No! Tater's Nana!!!" Looks like someone might have a hard time sharing his Nana.

March 4:
My silly boy wearing Mommy's shoes and Daddy's hat.
March 6:  Tater was lying down in his bath tonight. He looked up at me and said, "Mommy, Tater sleeping. Ssshhh!" Guess he thinks the bathtub would make a great bed.

March 6:  Getting clean.
March 7:  Had a great family date night seeing The Lorax. Tater watched the whole movie. :)

March 8:
Love these kids. They just RAN 12 laps around the downstairs and then they use their imaginations to turn the living room into a swimming pool. :-)

March 8:
June just picked up my book that I brought to read during nap and asked where the red letters were. Took me a minute to figure out that she was talking about the red print in Bibles.

March 8:
Q activities, you are going to have to wait until later. We are having too much using our imaginations right now.

March 8:
Spent 5 minutes of our walk around the neighborhood today quacking like a duck with the kids.

March 8:
I often call the kids by their first and middle names. Today on our walk, Tater turned around to Baylee and said "Om on, Bawee Wynn." (Come on, Baylee Lynn.)

March 8:
Watching Hugo with Dave. Love that they made the movie look so much like the drawings in the book.

March 10:
Woke up sobbing at 2:30 after having a horrible dream. :(

March 12:
It's St. Patrick's Day on Saturday so our week is filled with rainbows (reviewing our colors, too), pots of gold, shamrocks, and little men dressed in green.

March 12:
Dave:Tater, who is your favorite person in the whole world?
Tater:God

Such a sweet boy!

March 14:
I have an extra student today! :)

March 15:
Just took my first dose of allergy medicine for the spring. :(

March 16:  On our way to our Alma Mater.

March 16:  Bouncing in the sunshine at Mommy and Daddy's Alma Mater.
March 16:  Cooling off with some frozen yogurt.
March 17:  Starting Tater's birthday celebration week by going to Bush Gardens. :)
March 17:  Loving his Melmo cupcake.
March 17: After a busy week and a super busy start to the weekend, our house is, quite honestly, a disaster right now. I know that it needs to be cleaned, but there's a part of me that just wants to be lazy and rest.

March 17:
Tater and I were talking for a few minutes before I put him in his bed.

Tater: Me Tater VBK.
Me: Yes, you're Tater VBK.
Tater: Mommy Ban Buggurk, Daddy Ban Buggurk.
Me: Yes, we are a family. We love you very much.
Tater: June?
Me: She's June Y.
Tater: No! June VBK.

March 18:  His last night as a one year old.

Q Week

During the first full week of March, we learned about the letter Q.

We drove our train on the Q tracks.

We talked about being the queen.
 We practiced being quiet.
We made quilts with scraps of scrapbook paper.

We talked about a bird called a quail.
We made the letter Q out of lots of things including our lacing beads.
 We examined quarters
and practiced tossing them into a metal bucket.  We loved the sound that they made.
We worked on our fine motor skills by placing Q-tips into our lacing beads.

B was queen of the castle that day.  :)
 We colored quilts.
Drove cars on the Q road.
 We painted with Q-tips.

We practiced cutting quilt lines with scissors.  This was the first time that Tater and B had used scissors.

We read The Very Quiet Cricket.

We worked on our fine motor skills by placing the quarters into tubes.
I challenged J to find a way to get the lacing beads back into the box without touching them with her fingers.  It didn't take her long to figure it out.
Q is for quick, just like the trains in this book.
Snacking on a quilt in the sunshine.
Putting the quilts in size order.
J decided to stack the quarters on top of the quilts.
More fine motor practice by playing the correct number of clothespins on these counting quilt squares.

We did crayon rubbings of quarters.  This was way harder to do with preschoolers than what I originally thought.
A walk through the woods on a sunny day.

We played with quintuplets.  It was hard work keeping them all fed and happy.
 We loved My "q" Book
We made designs like the ones we had seen on some of the quilts.

We painted with water.  (Not a q activity, but still fun in the warm sunshine.)

We saw signs of spring when we went on our walks.
A Q made out of cheese and a cracker.
We ended our Q week with a fun Q lunch:  Quesadillas!
